Alur cerita dalam setiap cerita pendek biasanya berpusat pada usaha-usaha mustahil Tom untuk menangkap Jerry, disertai dengan berbagai konflik fisik dan kerusakan materi. Mereka terkadang terlihat dapat hidup damai berdampingan di beberapa episode (setidaknya dalam menit-menit pertama), jadi terkadang tidak jelas mengapa Tom begitu bernafsunya mengejar Jerry. Beberapa alasannya mungkin adalah perseteruan abadi kucing dan tikus, tugas yang diberikan oleh pemilik rumah, balas dendam, dan kompetisi melawan kucing lainnya.
Tom jarang sekali sukses menangkap Jerry, terutama disebabkan oleh kepandaian dan kelincahan Jerry serta kebodohan Tom sendiri. Tom biasanya mengalahkan Jerry ketika sang tikus menjadi penyebab masalah atau ketika Jerry telah bertindak keterlaluan.
Cerita pendek mereka terkenal dengan lelucon yang paling sadis yang pernah ditampilkan dalam film animasi: Jerry memotong tubuh Tom menjadi dua, Jerry memasukkan ekor Tom kejendela, Jerry menjepit kepala Tom dengan jendela atau pintu, Jerry menjatuhkan berbagai benda berat mulai dari setrika, gada besi, penutup oven, gelas, piring, kaca, dan perabotan lainnya ke kepala Tom. Tom menggunakan segalanya mulai dari kapak, pistol, bom dinamit dan racun sebagai usahanya untuk membunuh Jerry, Jerry memanggang ekor Tom ke dalam panggangan roti, memasukkan ekor kucing itu ke dalam lubang listrik, menghantam wajah Tom dengan tongkat baseball, dan lainnya. Namun, disamping semua tindakan sadis ini, tidak ada darah atau hal-hal yang mengerikan tampil di dalam cerita mereka. Lelucon yang sering terulang dalam tindakan sadis ini adalah ketika Jerry memukul Tom ketika si kucing itu sedang melakukan sesuatu. Tom pada mulanya terlupa akan rasa sakit --- namun kemudian merasakannya beberapa saat kemudian!
Seri kartun ini juga terkenal dengan ketergantungannya pada berbagai klise, misalnya tubuh karakter yang menjadi hitam legam akibat suatu ledakan dan penggunaan gambar bayang-bayang yang diperbesar (seperti di episode "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Mouse"). Kemiripan pada benda-benda dan kejadian-kejadian nyata bisa jadi adalah daya tarik utama dari humor visual seri kartun ini. Karakter-karakter Tom and Jerry biasa berubah menjadi bentuk-bentuk yang tidak masuk akal tapi sangat berkenaan dengan kejadian yang ada (kebanyakan dalam situasi terpaksa akibat dipukul atau lainnya) dalam gambaran yang tertutup tapi cukup mengerikan di dunia nyata.
Musik berperan sangat penting dalam tiap episode, memberikan penekanan pada tindak-tanduk karakter, mengisi suara sound effects, dan membawa emosi ke dalam cerita. Pengarah musik Scott Bradley menciptakan karya musik yang rumit yang mengkombinasikan musik jazz, klasik dan pop untuk seri ini. Ia seringkali menggunakan lagu-lagu pop kontemporer dan lagu-lagu dari film-film MGM seperti "The Wizard of Oz" dan "Meet Me In St. Louis".
Pra-1953, semua film animasi Tom and Jerry diproduksi dalam rasio dan format standar Akademi Film Amerika Serikat (Academy). Dari tahun 1953 hingga tahun 1956, beberapa film diproduksi ganda dalam format Academy dan proses CinemaScope layar lebar. Dari tahun 1956 hingga ditutupnya studio animasi MGM setahun kemudian, semua film animasi Tom and Jerry diproduksi dalam CinemaScope; beberapa bahkan lagu-lagu pengiringnya direkam dalam stereo. Di era tahun 1960-an, karya-karya Gene Deitch dan Chuck Jones semuanya diproduksi dalam format Academy, tapi dengan komposisi yang bisa dirubah ke dalam format layar lebar. Karya-karya Hanna-Barbera pada mulanya diproduksi dalam three-strip Technicolor; sementara yang diproduksi di tahun 1960-an menggunakan format Metrocolor

Sebagai cerita berseri, sebenarnya tidak pernah ada perkembangan waktu dalam cerita Doraemon. Walau kadang digambarkan terjadinya perubahan musim atau bahkan perubahan tahun (Doraemon pertama kali dikisahkan muncul pada tahun 1969, tapi di salah satu cerita di buku ke 25, jelas-jelas dikatakan saat itu adalah tahun 1982), Nobita dan teman-temannya tidak pernah beranjak dari kelas 4 SD.
Hanya ada 3 versi resmi tentang “tamatnya” Doraemon, masing-masing diterbitkan di majalah Shogaku 4-nensei (kelas 4 SD) pada tahun 1971, 1972 dan 1973. Walau begitu, Doraemon selalu dikisahkan kembali. Tidak pernah ada versi resmi di mana Doraemon benar-benar pergi sampai selama-lamanya. Dengan begitu, cerita tentang tamatnya Doraemon adalah buatan para fans sendiri.
Dari berbagai macam versi, mungkin versi dibawah ini yang paling mengharukan dan paling populer (walau ternyata versi terjemahan di bawah ini sudah disingkat dari versi Jepangnya yang lebih mendetail).
Daku sendiri kadang hampir nangis walau sudah baca berulang-ulang.

One day, a very normal day, Nobita came back from school and went upstairs of his house. Doraemon was there sleeping, just like the other normal day.
“Hey, Doraemon, please wake up, lets play! “, but Doraemon does not wake up.
Nobita thought that Doraemon is tired, so he went out to play with Shizuka-chan and other folks. After few hours, he returned to his home, but Doraemon was still sleeping. Nobita felt something strange, and tried to wake him up. But there was no reply. He became to feel afraid, and tried to wake him up. But whatever he does, Doraemon did not wake up. Nobita exactly knew that something was different.
This never happened before. He began crying, but though he screamed or cried, the famous fat-cat-robot did not make a single move at all. He came up to one idea, and jumped into his desk-the time machine-and went to the future to meet Dorami-chan, Doraemon’s sister. He begged her for help, and forced her to go with him back to 1998.
After a short trip again back to 1998 by the time machine, Dorami-chan looked all over his brother Doraemon to see what was wrong with him. After few minutes, she said “the battery is out”
Nobita was relieved, and said, “Battery? So he is not broken right? Please replace or recharge his battery, and put him back like before.”
But Dorami-chan shook her head and said,”Nobita-san, should I really do that?”
Nobita said, “What? What do you mean?”
Dorami-chan replied, “His main battery is here, close to his pocket. And it ran out. But originally, he had a back-up battery in his ears, but as you know, his ears were eaten by a rat very many years ago, so he does not have a back-up battery now.”
“So what do you mean?”
“I mean, if I replace his battery, every memory of you will be eternally lost from his brain program.”
“WHAT?????”
“Shall I do that?”
Nobita closed his eyes. He cried, but after few minutes, he stopped crying,and quietly told Dorami-chan, “Dorami-chan, thanks for coming here. I will take care of the rest. You have to go back to your future time now.”
Dorami-chan could not decide what to do, but anyway she hugged Nobita quietly, and she went back home. After he went back, Nobita carried Doraemon and placed him into the shelf.
TIME FLIES……….
Year 2010, Nobita grew up. Since that day, he changed. He studied hard, did not cry anymore, and he lived without Doraemon. He told Shizuka and other folks that Doraemon had to go back to his future, and could not meet him anymore.
Shizuka was impressed to Nobita’s mysterious appearance which became completely different from 10 years ago. They fell in love, and married. Nobita became a scientist. He made a laboratory in his room, and was studying hard with his job all day. He told Shizuka not to come into the room, as it is very dangerous inside.
But one day, he called Shizuka and told her to come in to his room. It was the first time for her to enter his husband’s room. The moment she went in, she lost her words… There was her friend, Doraemon, who she used to play in her childhood days. Doraemon was not moving. It seemed as he was sleeping.
“Look, Shizuka, I will plug in from now.” Nobita turned on the main switch on Doraemon. Doraemon quietly, very quietly, started to open his eyes.
It was the moment the inventor of Doraemon became clear. It was Nobita. He studied hard and hard just to meet and talk with his old friend again. Going back and forth of time, Nobita was the one who made Doraemon. He discovered all the programs and architecture of Doraemon-type-robot.
Nobita and Shizuka was crying gently.
Doraemon opened his eyes. He looked around, and finally said, “Nobita-kun, did you finish your homework?”
There was the same white clouds in the sky like the times they used to spend together…——————————-

MISTERI ISTANA KELLIE


Pemanduan selama 30 minit ke selatan Ipoh menghala ke arah Batu Gajah akan membawa anda ke Ladang Getah Kinta Kellas. Di tengah kehijauan rumput yang subur, tersergam sebuah istana impian separuh siap kepunyaan William Kellie Smith, seorang peladang berbangsa Scotland yang kaya-raya.
Pembinaan yang bermula pada tahun 1915 ke atas istana besar yang mempunyai seni bina lain dari yang lain ini berhenti secara mendadak dengan kematian mengejut pemiliknya. Suasana misteri masih menyelubungi rumah besar yang menyeramkan ini. Adalah dipercayai istana ini juga mempunyai bilik-bilik rahsia dan terowong bawah tanah.
Setelah 67 tahun berlalu, khabar-khabar angin tentang peristiwa misteri istana ini telah menguatkan lagi lagenda impian yang tidak kesampaian bagi William Kellie Smith. Lagenda ini jugalah yang telah memberi satu daya tarikan kepada istana ini untuk terus menjadi satu destinasi pengunjung yang bersejarah.
Penemuan ganjil menyerupai seekor beruang di batang pokok batai atau dagang menjadikan Kellie's Castle sebagai kawasan pelancongan yang semakin terkenal dan terus dikunjungi pelancong domestik serta luar negara. Pengarah Eksekutif Kellie's Castle, Tajuddin Yaacob, berkata beliau berharap penemuan itu akan membawa kebaikan dan keuntungan kepada kawasan pelancongan berkenaan khasnya serta Perak amnya.
Kellie's Castle adalah istana zaman kolonial yang dibina antara 1909 hingga 1926 oleh seorang hartawan dari Scotland, Wiliam Kellie Smith di Kilometer 5.5 Jalan Simpang Pulai-Batu Gajah, dekat sini.Tajuddin berkata, penemuan pada minggu pertama Aidilifitri lalu mengubah senario Kellie's Castle yang terkenal sebagai kawasan pelancongan penuh misteri di negara ini. Beliau berkata, jika selama ini pengunjung yang datang hanya memberi tumpuan kepada bangunan istana lama terbabit, kini mereka juga tidak melepaskan peluang melihat pokok batai atau dagang yang mirip wajah beruang itu serta meninjau kawasan berhampiran.
Katanya, apa yang menjadikannya lebih unik hanya terdapat satu pokok yang nama saintifiknya Albizia di kawasan pelancongan itu dan ia berasal dari Brazil. "Kami dapat melihat rupa seekor haiwan menyerupai beruang seakan-akan memeluk batang pokok batai atau dagang yang besar itu."Pokok terbabit terletak kira-kira 50 kilometer dari Kellie's Castle dan dikatakan berusia lebih 40 tahun."Pihak pengurusan Kellie's Castle akan membuat satu papan tanda khas mengenai pokok itu supaya ia menjadi tumpuan pengunjung terutama pengunjung Kellie's Castle," katanya.
Tajuddin berkata, Kellie's Castle menjadi tumpuan ramai pengunjung terutama pada hujung minggu dan musim cuti seperti cuti umum atau persekolahan.Katanya, selain pelancong domestik dari negeri ini dan seluruh negara, ia dikunjungi pelancong luar dari Australia, Jerman, Amerika Syarikat, United Kingdom dan negara Eropah lain serta Asia."Boleh dikatakan ramai yang datang dari United Kingdom, mungkin kerana Smith berasal dari Scotland," katanya.Kellie's Castle adalah istana lama yang dibangunkan sebagai lambang cinta Smith kepada isterinya, Agnes.
Bagamanapun, ia gagal disiapkan kerana kematian Smith pada 1926.Kellie's Castle yang diperbuat daripada batu bata merah dan marmar diimport dari India setinggi enam tingkat mempunyai 24 bilik dan sebuah terowong bawah tanah yang menghubungkan istana itu dengan kawasan estet berhampiran.

CARITO WAYANG KULIT


Wayang Kulit (leather puppet) and Jawa
The island of Java, local people calls it Java since the ancient time. The name of Indonesia did not exist yet at that time. Since a long time ago, island of Java is exceptionally beautiful and fertile with pleasant climate. This condition has made the island to be comfortably to live in, this is the island of gods. This might be true. The Javanese people in Javanese language are (they have graded language: alus means soft and polite to be used when speaking with elder men or respected people and kasar or rough to be used by common people). Tiyang from Ti Hyang (alus)Uwong from Wahong (kasar)Both have same meaning, the descendants of gods.
According to wayang kulit stories and some people believe that the first kings or rulers in ancient Jawa were gods themselves descending from kahyangan (Heaven Kingdom). Java was almost uninhibited.
The first kingdom in Java was Medhang Kamulan (kamulan from mula – beginning) means a man who has begun to create life existance. The location of Medhang Kamulan was in the mountain of Mahendra (now, Gunung/ Mount Lawu) in the border of Surakarta and Madiun regencies. The king was S.H. Guru himself descended from Kahyangan, his name was Sri Paduka raja Mahadewa. He moved his kingdom to Mount Gede in Bogor, West Java, with his assistant Narada, as Patih (chief minister). In Mount Gede, the court ranking were :
1. King2. Patih3. Brahmana (priest)4. Senopati (chief warrior)5. Jaksa (judge)
Then he moved back to Lawu. He began to construct his palace with building imitating the ones in kahyangan. For cultural entertainment he created gamelan (Javanese music instruments) by the name of Lokananta to accompany gods while they were dancing (beksan).
To guard his palace, he assigned two giants to stand in front of the entrance gate. Their names were Cingkarabala and Balaupata (nowadays, the Karatons in Java have giant statues with same names to be placed in front of the entrance gates).
The heirloom master, he was also a god or Jawata (also means the teacher of Javanese people), Empu Ramadi or Ramayadhi were instructed by king Mahadewa (Guru) to make heirlooms for gods, such as keris (dagger), cakra, arrows, etc. Up to now, Empu Ramadi was considered as the first Keris maker in Java.
After several years ruled in Java, Guru returned to kahyangan. He sent five of his sons to rule in several places :
1.
God or Sang Hyang (S.H.) Sambo in the kingdom of Medhangprawa (Mount Rajabasa) in Sumatra. His name was Sri Maharaja (S.M.) Maldewa.
2.
S.H. Brahma in Medhang Gili in Mount Mahera (Anyer) by the name of S.M. Sunda. That's why the people of West Java are called Tiyang (people) of Sunda.
3.
S.H. Endra in Mount Mahameru (now, Mount Semeru - East Java) by the name of S.M. Sakra. The kingdom was Medhang Gana.
4.
S.H. Wisnu in Mount Gora (now, Mount Slamet, nearby Tegal Central Java, the kingdom was Medhang Puro, his name was S.M. Suman).
5.
S.H. Bayu in Mount Karang (Bali). His name was S.M. Bimo of the kingdom of Medhang Gora.
He sent also several dewas to become Penditas and that was the beginning of Darma (religious) teaching in Java, the local name was Pranata Gama (organizing of religious teaching).

Semar (S.H.) Ismoyo the elder brother of guru, he himself become Ponokawan and he sent nine sons to become Pendita in Mount Lawu to strengthen the pranata Gama in Java.
The five divine kings they enjoyed dancing accompanied by gamelan Lokananta. After the dancing, they spread art of self-defense, gave lessons of some supernatural power. They enjoyed living in Java, especially Wisnu who married with Dewi Pratiwi (goddess of earth). Thus, their descendants become rulers of Java.
Batara Kala from time to time disrupted the peaceful life in Java, making trouble to others. Kala was afraid of Wisnu and Semar, several times he had been defeated in battles. When someone is careless, he could be easily be victim of Kala. Many people up to present date make Slametan (slamet : safe and sound) such as food offerings called 'Ruwatan' to protect from Kala's disturbance.
Batara Endra had instructed the planting of two waringin (banyan) trees in front of the Palace Square like in Kahyangan. The Kalpataru, by the name of Dewandaru and Jayadaru. This also could be seen nowadays in Javanese Karatons.
Bedaya, at present is a sacred court dance, performed by seven beautiful ladies, in the ancient time were performed by seven goddesses such as Dewi Supraba, Dewi Wilatama, etc. It was the favorite entertainment of King Dewa Esa (Wisnu) in his kingdom in Parahyangan (the domain of gods), West Java.
Court titlesThe sons of gods were called Raden for the male (from Rahadi - Rah means blood or life, adi means precious), - the precious man. The female were called Dewi. This title was also given to the wives of gods.
Mount MerapiIts name in the old days was Candrageni, north of Yogyakarta. Geni means fire, the fire mountain was dangerous since ancient time. One big explosion occurred, the thunderous voice raised to the sky with burning fire for forty consecutive days. The village on the top of the mountain ruin to ashes, turn to be the crater.
Batara Panyarikan, 'secretary of Guru', descended also in earth, to join Wisnu. Thus in Java, knowledge, art and literature began to develop.
Seeing the above explanation, wayang kulit has a deep root in Java, even become part of their daily life. It is usual that someone's behavior, physical beauty and achievement are compared with those figures in wayang. A beautiful lady is compared to Dewi Supraba. Someone would say, "She is very beautiful like Dewi Supraba". A career and intelligent women should be called Srikandi.
For male, if someone is honest as Yudistira, a handsome man should be praised as Arjuna. A strong young man or an air force officer is called Gatotkaca. A tall, strong, big man is compared with Bima, and a tricky man is like Sengkuni.
People, for instance, do not like greedy and cruel leaders because they are resembled to Rahwana and Duryudana.
A wise man is valued as Kresna. When a man and a woman are in a deep love, as if can not be separated from each others, people would say, "They are a loving couple, like Dewi Ratih (goddess of love) and Batara Kamajaya (god of love).

Itu tuh… film animasi buatan negara tetangga Malaysia yang sedang tayang beberapa kali dalam bulan ramadhan tahun lalu.Upin dan Ipin adalah tentang sepasang anak kembar laki - laki yang bernama upin dan ipin yang tinggal bersama kakaknya "Kak Ros" dan neneknya "Opa". Sepertinya kalo di Malaysia Opa adalah panggilan untuk nenek, bertolak belakang dengan Indonesia Opa adalah panggilan untuk kakek dan untuk nenek dipanggil dengan sebutan Oma. Isi ceritanya tentang moral dan tentang puasa untuk anak - anak.Film ini mengisahkan tentang pengalaman berpuasa 2 anak kembar yang masih kecil. Banyak sekali pesan moral yang perlu dilihat dan dicontoh oleh anak-anak dan orang tua kita. Bagaimana seorang anak menghargai apa dan bagaimana puasa itu, sembari tetap beraktifitas seperti bermain.Dan untuk orang tua juga, agar dapat meniru cara mendidik dan mengajarkan beribadah yang baik kepada anak-anaknya. Upin dan Ipin adalah film animasi yang dibuat oleh Les Copaque, sebuah industri media di Selangor, malaysia. Upin dan Ipin punya episode terbaru. Film animasi keluarga ini menceritakan tentang kehidupan 2 orang anak malaysia dalam kehidupan sehari-harinya. Dalam film animasi ini dimunculkan etnik-etnik yang ada di Malaysia. Ada Etnik Melayu, China maupun India.Settingnya sendiri akan membawa kita berada ditengah pedesaan yang syarat dengan silaturahmi beragama. Peleburan Kultur yang beragam tanpa ada jarak sangat kental terasa. Seolah memastikan bahwa Islam benar-benar Agama yang terbuka dan berdampingan dengan aliran lain.Meskipun berdialek Malayu, tapi kita orang Indonesia masih dapat dengan mudah menyerap maksud dan tujuannya. Dan justru, dialek mereka yang saya suka, karena terkadang bisa menggelikan…. is..is..is. Animasinya juga bisa dibilang rapi dan halus.
